Dear all, I was asked what cycing groups go out and have listed below the responses I received. There are clearly quite a few who could get together, join other groups or simply tag along as and when.
Below is a list of the responses I received together with area's they are in, AND Contact emails. Everyone listed below was happy to have their email circulated in the club and be contacted.
No excuses now eh! Happy cycling.
Ruper Conant – Off road, Harringworth rupert@rupertconant.com
I go out on my mountain bike most Saturdays sometime between 8:00 and 9:00 am ( very civilised these days ), I would be very happy to take any one along. We go out for 2.5 hours approx. Average fitness level – difficult to grade but if you were riding a road bike ( on the road ) you should be comfortable riding 40 miles + ; mtb-ing is more about endurance than speed at this time of year. Mixture of tracks, muddy bridleways and open fields, maybe 15 % on the road. People should email or ring me during the week before. We leave from Harringworth Lodge. I also ride off road quite a bit during the week, often at night. Anyone welcome to join me.
Graeme Hall – Corby/Oundle/Wansford ghal@misco.co.uk
May be out of range for all but Rob Hammond & myself, but Welland Valley Wheelers leave the market place in Market Harborough at 0930 on Sundays. Usually 2 groups -steady (around 18ish mph) , and easy (slower). Usually around 2-3 hours and normally have a cafe stop for those that need to eat cake. It may be worth advising people to take off the tri-bars for these club rides
If we were to organise a Sunday ride, I would be happy to lead every 2-3 weeks but it would start from Oundle or Wansford. Plenty of parking and access to some lovely hills
Tom & Max Rebbitt: Kingscliffe tom.rebbitt@btinternet.com
I usually go out Saturday morning from my place for ~1.5 hours at ~15mph - sometimes with Sam, Phil, Sean & Hannah but the start time is very variable (8-11)
Also go out on Sundays for a long (3-5 hours), slow (~14mph) ride followed by a run (1-2 hours) but I have worked the Ferry Meadows run in to that (cycle there, run, cycle back, drop off running kit & cycle a bit more)
And I do Sean's excellent track/grass/hill running session on a Tuesday night, which I can't recommend strongly enough - has made huge improvements for Max and me.
Tony & Josh Daniels: Peterborough tony.daniels@Travelex.com
Josh and I go out Saturday mornings at 9 ish.
If there are others that want to go at 9ish for 40-50 miles at 17 mph average, would be keen to get a group together.
Elton Furze ideally although can flex. Tony Daniels 01733 503588

Jo Lee Rushden/Raunds/Stanwick email_4_jo@yahoo.co.uk
Would like to go out cycling with others as i go on my own at the minute, I come from Rushden , and am not too bad in terms of speed but havent had my race bike for long, only go about 20 miles at the most usually.
if there is anyone that lives more Raunds Stanwick way would be brilliant for me, as Peterborough is a way to go for me.
Victoria Wilson: Peterborough snowvixen@hotmail.co.uk
· where you leave from - Oundle Road, Peterborough
· distance/time - For between 25 and 50 miles depending on how much time I have which takes me from 1.5 to 3.5 hrs
· speed/fitness level - Usually average between 15 and 17 mph depending on the weather and what other training I have been doing
· who to contact (and how) - I usually ride alone so it'd be great to have some company. Probably best to contact me by email
· I also do quite a lot of mountain biking so if anyone's up for a change of scene I'd be up for that too.
I'm quite happy to lead some 'improvers' rides from Peterborough if there's enough interest. I've got a couple of girlie cycling buddies that want to do more group riding too.
I'm still really slow on the running and need to shift up a gear as I have my first adventure race in March. If anyone is up for a 6mph 5-9 mile run or anyone willing push a slow coach maybe as part of a recover run for them I'd really appreciate it.
Mark Anderson: Stamford mark.spud@btinternet.com
I would be interested in going out regularly at the weekend with anyone in the Stamford area. Usually am up for about 43.75 miles. Can be contacted at this email address. I am relatively easy and can just about keep up with the Elton lot on a good day!
Finally, Mark Gardiner, in Peterborough, markalgardiner@yahoo.co.uk says
At the moment I'm training for the Fenland Clarion Sportive in Stamford on March 23rd. This normally takes place sometime on a Saturday morning.
Anyone wishing to join me - anywhere from novice to advanced slacker, will be duly received.
So no excuses for not finding a group now
